By creating the eBook I learned how to create an appealing
presentation that abided the acronym SWEETS. I learned how much text is appropriate
on each slide as well as how to input pictures and videos. Most importantly, I
learned how to cite my work and give credit where it was needed. I am confident
in my ability to create an interesting and appropriate eBook.
I
learned that using an eBook can be a fun and engaging way for students to
present their ideas. I envision using eBooks in my own teaching as a
project-based learning activity for students. For examples, students can create
eBooks and share them to the rest of the class. This is an option for schools that
are looking for a more technological and environmental friendly way for science
fairs, speeches, and even classroom presentations.
Some pedagogical
strategies that I learned to help students create eBooks are; gradual release
of responsibility, plenty of examples, and step-by-step instructions. The use
of eBooks can be an overwhelming process but when teachers show how to create
an eBook as well as giving them written instructions the students can work at
their own pace. As well, I believe that students should be provided with a
checklist so that can ensure that have included all of the components.
